Usually I start of tight mainly due to two reasons. First of all there is no rush and you always have time to wait for a good starting hand. Secondly I like to build up an image on the table of being a tight player to gain respect when I decide to battle it out. Another advantage that comes with playing tight in the beginning is that you get time over to analyze your opponents, see who’s tight, loose, having a bad beat, tilting, etc. Once the blinds increase and the number of opponents is lower you can drop the passive act and play more hands and a looser game.
